Bruno Price, cofounder of Rare Violins of New York, has been a dealer of fine violins, violas, cellos and bows for 25 years. During this time he established many important and trusting relationships with the world’s foremost musicians, collectors and dealers of great instruments, which he now uses to benefit the customers of Rare Violins of New York. Born in Great Britain to a musical family, Bruno has been surrounded by instruments and music since his early childhood. He began playing the cello at the age of eight and continued his cello training at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. In the United States Bruno studied with Marc Johnson of the Vermeer Quartet at the University of Northern Illinois, Dekalb, where he earned his graduate degree in Cello Performance. Bruno transitioned from cellist to instrument dealer when he joined Bein & Fushi in Chicago, working with the company from 1986 to 1995. He moved to the East Coast initially to lead the sales department for a major New York violin business before partnering with Ziv Arazi to form Rare Violins of New York.
Ziv Arazi, cofounder of Rare Violins of New York, was introduced to fine instrument sales by way of his career as a classical violinist. A soloist and chamber musician, he performed internationally before founding Rare Violins of New York with Bruno Price. Ziv was born in Israel and began studying violin at seven years old, when his older brother’s violin teacher recognized Ziv’s natural musical talent. At age 19, Ziv moved to New York to study violin performance as a scholarship student with Dorothy DeLay at The Julliard School of Music, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In 2001 Ziv retired from an active performing career in order to commit himself to Rare Violins of New York.
